HMS “Ambush” (S120) is a British “Astute”-class nuclear-powered multipurpose submarine, commissioned on 1 March 2013. This is the second ship of the “Astute” class, ordered for the “BAE Systems Submarine Solutions” shipyard on March 17, 1997. The keel was laid only on October 23, 2003. On December 16, 2010, the name "Ambush" was given to the ship. It was launched in January 2011 and entered service on March 1, 2013. The ship's first mission was started immediately after entering service - it sailed to the Atlantic in July 2014, visiting Rio de Janeiro and several ports on the east coast of the United States during the voyage. In October 2015 "Ambush" returned to its port of call from a six-month mission in the Mediterranean Sea. The most important task of that mission was the ship's participation in the "Dynamic Manta 15" training of the Defense Forces of the European Union states. On July 20, 2016, "Ambush" collided with a civilian ship in the Strait of Gibraltar, during the collision the control cabin of the submarine was significantly damaged.
Uncomplicated, like most modern nuclear submarine models, but a well-designed and highly detailed model, that can be assembled by a modeler of any experience. Only beginners and modelers with little experience are recommended to work under the supervision of a more experienced colleague.
