Type 037 corvette or rocket ship is a series of 400-500 ton corvette-type ships, used by the People's Liberation Army Navy of China. Unlike Western navies, the People's Liberation Army Navy does not have dedicated patrol vessels. Instead, a variety of corvette-type vessels, such as rocket ships and cutters and submarine hunters, are used to patrol China's territorial waters. The Egyptian Navy has eight of these ships. The Type 037 submarine hunter (NATO code: „Houxin“ class) is a submarine hunter for the People's Liberation Army Navy of China. It was developed by China to replace the Soviet S.O.-1 class submarine hunters. In addition to anti-submarine warfare missions, these simple, but effective units can also perform a variety of missions, such as minelaying and patrolling. These vessels were initially equipped with Soviet hull-mounted “Tamir-11” (MG-11, NATO code: "Stag Hoof") sonar, which had a typical range of 3 km (1.9 mi), but in the 1970s they were replaced by the Chinese “SJD-3” sonar, a modification of the original “MG-11”: instead of being attached to the hull, the “SJD-3” has a telescopic joint, so that the sonar is stored in the hull, when not in use, and lowered into the water a few meters below the hull, when in use, thus increasing the detection range and avoiding interference from the hull. 19 January 1974 during the Sino-South Vietnamese naval engagements, two ships of this class (No. 281 and No. 282, two of the eight used by China), participated in the second half of the battle and were the fastest Chinese units in the conflict. Initially, the ships waited at Yongsing Island, but due to communication problems, they were not informed until the battle had already begun. More than 100 of them were built, but as newer submarine hunters entered service, ships of this class were withdrawn from service. A number of these ships were later sold to Bangladesh, Egypt, North Korea, Pakistan, and Myanmar. On 13 October 2013, a North Korean Type 037 ship sank off the coast of Wonsan, killing at least nineteen crew members. It may have collided with another ship of the Korean People's Navy. It is believed, that four Type 037 submarine hunters were modified and became known as the 037 Mod (NATO: “Haijiu”-class) ships. The “Houxin”-class ships of the Chinese Navy were designated with the following hull numbers during their service: 601–610, 622, 625–629, 639, 650, 673, 674, 677, 681–687, 689–692, 694–696, 698–709 and 721–742.
A small, but quite complex, well-designed and well-detailed model for intermediate and experienced modelers. The color reserve is available, and considerable, the graphic instructions are excellent, the textual is tiny and only general notes. The publication contains side parts for a ship hull with a side number of 653 and "clean" side parts, on which the side number of any instance can be glued, collected from the digits, provided in the edition. Openwork parts are given as templates or as parts for cutting. There are also missile parts, so you can make openable missile hangars with missiles inside
