Sd. Kfz. 251-23 „Schutzenpanzerwagen“ – the armored transporter

Sd. Kfz. 251/23 (Mittlerer Schutzenpanzerwagen mit 2 cm KwK 38) - This armored personnel carrier is equipped with a standard HL 38 turret, the same as the armored cars Sd. Kfz. 234/1 and Sd. Kfz. 222 and tank Sd. Kfz. 140/1. The armament consisted of a 20 mm caliber cannon and an MG 42 machine gun. The cannon barrel could move from -100 to +850 and rotate at an angle of 3600. The combat reserve of the cannon was not large - only 100 rounds, the machine gun - much larger - 2010 rounds. A dozen Sd have been reworked into this version. Kfz. 251 Ausf. D. The crew consisted of 4 soldiers, FuG type 12 radio stations were installed in these cars. Serial production of this variety began in December 1944.
