"JELCZ" 080 – a suburban bus, which was produced by the Jelcz Automobile Manufacturing Plant in the city of Jelcz-Laskowice in 1978 – 1984. When designing it, a modified "JELCZ" PR 110 bus body and a "STAR 200" truck chassis were used. The first prototype was built in 1977, and already in September 1978 the first serial bus rolled off the line. On June 1, 1979 the school bus version of the JELZZ 080 was introduced, which had seats for the smallest passengers and doors, arranged according to the 0-1-0 scheme. However, this version was produced in only 1 copy. In 1980 a tourist version was introduced, which had airplane passenger seats. Production was discontinued in 1984, a total of 1,061 buses of this brand were produced. The first versions were equipped with a 6-cylinder S359 diesel engine with a working capacity of 6.842 l and a power of 150 h. p. These engines were manufactured in Starachowice. Later exemplars were equipped with 6C107/A7 type 6.52 l 138 h. p. engines, manufactured at the WSW factory in Andrzychowo. "JELCZ" 080 could carry 31 seated and 9 standing passengers. The driver's seat is adjustable in height and in the horizontal plane. The driver's seat and the windshield are heated by the engine cooling system, the passenger compartment is heated by the "Sirocco" unit, manufactured by the German DR. Ventilation is carried out with the help of fans, as well as by opening the side windows and upper hatches. These buses were mainly used by companies, that had to transport workers over short distances, schools as school buses. A number of buses were converted into campers, delivery trucks, mobile shops and mobile cafes.
A small, moderately detailed, colorful and simple model, designed for beginners and modelers with little experience. There is no interior equipment. There are no color reserves. The textual instruction in Polish is small, quite detailed, informative and a great complement to the small, but quite informative, clear and easy-to-read graphical instruction.
