ZIS-112 (1951) - the USSR racing car

ZIS-112 - a prototype of a sports car with a two-seater roadster body, designed by Valentin Rostkov, inspired by the 1951 American concept car Buick "Le Sabre". Due to its unusual bullet-shaped nose with a single headlight in the center, it was nicknamed the "Cyclop". The car, based on the ZIS-110 luxury car, appeared in all its glory to the public in 1951. Initially, the ZIS-112 was created as a full-fledged racing car, and not as a concept model. The car was painted blue on top and white on the bottom - later it was the traditional color scheme of the ZIL racing team. It is worth noting, that in those days the races were very specific: they were held not on special tracks, but on ordinary intercity highways, for example, on the Moscow-Minsk highway. After some time, the designers made the "Cyclops" a little shorter: the car could accelerate to 210 km/h. The competition showed, that the car could not compete on an equal footing with its competitors. Numerous attempts by engineers to improve the sports car did not yield positive results. In 1955, after another upgrade, it became clear, that the ZIS-112 could not be adapted for sports competitions. Not a single original ZIS-112 survived.

A very interesting model of a Soviet sports car. The car has very complex shapes and looks fantastic. The model's interior is well designed and richly detailed, where necessary, double-sided printing and two types of paper (matte and glossy - but the gloss is minimal) were used, there is a fairly large blue color stock. There are no text instructions, the graphic ones are not very large, but detailed and informative. Due to the complex shapes, the model is suitable only for medium and experienced modelers.
