Sd. Kfz. 184 "Elefant" - heavy armored anti-tank self-propelled gun, designed to destroy enemy tanks. It was a modification of the “Ferdinand” self-propelled gun for the same purpose. The Battle of Kursk revealed both “Ferdinand's” strengths and weaknesses. Its good features were armor and excellent armament, that could penetrate the armor of any USSR tank. Their biggest drawback was weak side armor and low resistance to the effects of mines. Almost half of the 89 "Ferdinands", that participated in the Battle of Kursk, were damaged by mines. After this battle, the "Ferdinands" were removed from the front and sent for modernization. Until March 1, 1944 only 20 machines were modernized, in March - 27, another 5 machines were under repair on April 1. The modernization was so deep, that after it combat vehicles began to be designated Sd. Kfz. 184 "Elefant" ("Elephant").
The model, You are about to start building, represents “Elefant” number 324 of the 653rd Heavy Armored Artillery Division's 3rd campaign in Galicia in May 1944. Complex model with "full stuffing" - engine compartment, fighting compartment interior, well detailed chassis and exterior, beautifully restored “Zimmerit” coating. In short, a model for specialists.
