On June 1, 1936 the keel of the battleship of the BV 509 project was laid at the shipyard “Blohm und Woss” in Hamburg. On February 14, 1939 one of the largest battleships in the world was launched. The ship was named “Bismarck” in honor of German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck. This Chancellor united the divided German lands “with blood and iron”. “Bismarck” first set sail on September 15, 1940. From March 18 to April 1, 1941 tests were carried out in the Baltic Sea, preparing the battleship for its first combat mission. In May 1941, during its only combat voyage, it sank the flagship battle-cruiser HMS “Hood” of the British Royal Navy in the Danish Straits. The chase for “Bismarck”, that began after that, in which almost the entire Royal Navy participated, ended three days later with the sinking of the German colossus.

A large, well-detailed and well-designed model of a large ship, intended for medium-experienced and experienced modelers. The model has all the details perfectly designed, the hull and underwater parts, armament details, and the model itself stands out with its beautiful silhouette and camouflage of broken spots. There is a considerable supply of colors. The textual instruction in Polish is not very large, but quite detailed and will certainly help in the process of assembling the model. The graphical instructions are perhaps a bit too small, but they are certainly sufficient, informative and easy to read, with one drawback – some of the drawings are very small and You will probably need a magnifying glass to read them. The model recreates the appearance of the ship in May 1941.
