The “Hunt”-class escort destroyers were a class of escort ships, that served in the British Royal Navy during the pre-war and Second World War. The class consisted of four slightly different subclasses. The ships were built to the Admiralty concept of a fast escort ship, capable of performing some convoy escort duties, as well, as providing air defense for convoys. The ships were named after hunting terms, specifically the places, where English greyhounds were found and bred. HMS “Cotswold “was commissioned on 16 November 1940 and served throughout the war as part of the 16th Escort Flotilla, based at Harwich, and engaged in numerous convoy escorts and patrols of the surrounding areas. She survived the war, but it is difficult to call HMS “Cotswold” a lucky ship due to the various accidents, that occurred with him. In 1944 ship participated in the Normandy landings and collided again: on 8 September 1944, this time with the transport ship SS “Chignecto Park”. Repairs were scheduled for the end of the month. Perhaps the most memorable episode in the biography of HMS “Cotswold” was his participation together with HMS “Curzon” (a Lend-Lease “Buckley”-class destroyer) in repelling an attack by Schnellboats of the 6th Flotilla on a convoy west of the Scheldt estuary on the night of 14–15 January 1945.
A medium-sized, but very complex, well-designed and very richly detailed model of a warship, painted in colorful camouflage (1941) for only medium-experienced and experienced modelers. There is a very symbolic color range, the text assembly instructions are large and detailed in Polish and English, the graphic ones are simply huge, informative, easy to read, and both of them will really help a lot in the process of gluing the model. Excellent print quality.
