The Archi Presbyterian Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, also known as Mary's Church for short, is one of the largest and most important churches in Krakow after the Wawel Cathedral, which has been called the Little Basilica since 1962. One of the most famous architectural monuments of Krakow and Poland. It is a Gothic-style building, built in the 14th and 15th centuries, located in Maria Square on the north-eastern side of Market Square. The first brick church in this place was built in 1221-1222, but it was soon destroyed during the Tatar attack. In 1290 - 1300 a new church in the early Gothic Halic style was built partly on the previous foundations, which was consecrated in 1320 - 21, but the work was continued in the third decade of the 14th century. In 1355 - 1365 the presbytery, which has survived to this day, was introduced. In 1392 - 97 the walls of the side naves were lowered, and the windows in the walls of the main nave were enlarged. During a strong earthquake in 1443 the roof of the sanctuary collapsed. In the first half of the 15th century the side chapels were introduced, the northern tower was raised, in the 18th century the interior was remodeled in the late Baroque style, in the beginning of the 19th century the cemetery, that was next to the church, was removed and thus the current Maria Square was formed. Complex restoration works of the sanctuary have been carried out since the beginning of the nineties of the 20th century. On April 18, 2010 the funeral rites of Polish President Lech Kaczynski and his wife, who died in the Smolensk air crash, took place in the Church of Mary.
A large, complex and well-designed and richly detailed model for intermediate to advanced modelers.
