CH-47 “Chinook” - a multi-purpose, twin-engine, twin-rotor, heavy-lift transport helicopter, manufactured by the American company “Boeing”. Two rotors, rotating in opposite directions, eliminate the need for a rear vertical rotor, allowing full power to be used for vertical lift and reaching speeds of up to 278 km/h. The main function of the helicopter is to transport troops and equipment. “Chinook” helicopters are used by 16 countries. The largest users of the “Chinook” are the United States Army and the Royal Air Force (RAF). They are also used by the armies of countries, such as Egypt, Australia, Greece, Canada, Italy, Israel, Japan and Thailand. The CH-47 “Chinook” is the successor to the Boeing CH-46 “Sea Knight” helicopter and features a very similar flying banana silhouette, taken from the even earlier Piasecki CH-21 “Shawnee” construction. The CH-47 was developed for the United States Army, which required a tactical transport helicopter with the same capabilities, as the CH-46, but with a larger payload. The commercial model of this helicopter is the Boeing 234 “Chinook”, and is used for cargo transport, passenger aviation, forest firefighting, oil rig supply and similar operations.
A large, complex, well-designed and richly detailed transport helicopter with full cockpit, transport compartment, propellers, landing gear and exterior detailing for intermediate to advanced modelers. There is a stock of fuselage camouflage colors, the textual instructions are small and only complement the excellent, easy-to-read and informative graphic instructions.
