Vickers FB 27 "Vimy" and FB 27a "Vimy" – the British heavy bomber and record flight aircraft

The Vickers "Vimy" was a British heavy bomber, designed and manufactured by “Vickers Limited”. It was developed in the last years of the First World War to supply the Royal Flying Corps (RFC). The “Vimy” was constructed by “Vickers'” chief designer Reginald Kirshaw "Rex" Pierson. Only a few Vickers “Vimy” aircraft entered service by the armistice of 11 November 1918, so it can be said, that the type did not see active combat operations during the war, but the “Vimy” became the nucleus of the Royal Air Force (RAF). It also formed the basis of the heavy bomber force of the British Royal Air Force in the 1920s. The “Vimy” was successful both as a military and as a civilian aircraft, with a civilian version, the “Vimy Commercial”, being developed. A special transport version of the “Vimy”, the Vickers “Vernon”, became the first military transport aircraft, used by the RAF. During the interwar period the “Vimy” set several long-range flight records, the most famous and significant of which was the first non-stop flight across the Atlantic. This was made in 1919, June by John Alcock and Arthur Brown. Other record flights were from the United Kingdom to countries, such as South Africa and Australia - the details of the model of this flight aircraft with the registration G-EAOU are the second model in this publication. The “Vimy” continued to be operated until the 1930s for both military and civilian purposes.

Models of a not very complex, but large bomber and a record flight from Great Britain to Australia, which will be perfectly assembled even by a modeler with little experience, working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. In these models detailed everything, that is in a real plane - cockpit interior, small arms armament, bomb racks and the bombs themselves, landing gear and other parts. Of course, the record plane is without weapons. The publication is completed with laser-cut parts in two sets for both models, cut from 1 mm thickness cardboard. There are no color reserves. The textual instructions in Polish, English, and Russian are quite extensive and perfectly complement the rather extensive, well-illustrated, fairly easy-to-read and informative graphical instructions. The publication is completed with an additional 1 mm thick cardboard sheet.
