The ship belonged to the Type VII submarines. The keel was laid down on May 1, 1940 in Hamburg, launched on March 20, 1941, entered service on May 15, 1941, and on August 24 with a very inexperienced crew, set sail on its first combat voyage. At around 10:50 on 27 August surfaced and was almost immediately discovered by the “Hudsons” from 269 Squadron RAF . The crew of the aircraft immediately attacked the submarine and, although the ship managed to submerge, four depth charges dropped, exploded less, than 10 meters from the ship's side. The hull lost its watertightness and the ship was forced to surface. When the crew went on deck, they were fired upon by “Hudson” machine guns until they raised a white sheet to show their surrender. The inexperienced crew panicked and decided, that the ship was about to sink, its interior quickly filling with poisonous chlorine from damaged batteries. In reality, the submarine was only slightly damaged and was able to sail perfectly on its own without much difficulty. The crew of the “Hudson”, flying over the submarine, called for help and were soon joined by another “Hudson” and the flying boat “Catalina”, while several ships were sent to intercept the U-boat. The first to approach U-570, was the small trawler HMT “Northern Chief’, which was later joined by several other British and Canadian ships. The British, who had captured the German ship, towed it to Iceland, where it was refloated on 29 August. The ship was repaired and entered service in the Royal Navy as HMS “Graph” (the “G” from “German”, and the “Graph” from “graphical”, were to represent all the drawings and other information, obtained during the ship's trials). After the repairs, the ship took part in a series of tests, aimed at measuring all its characteristics and tactical capabilities. The “Graph” tests showed, that German submarines could dive much deeper, than previously thought. British specialists highly appreciated the German ship and its equipment, especially its “Zeiss” periscope and passive hydrophones. After the end of the tests, the ship was put into active service and carried out 3 combat patrols. In 1943 the ship was still used as a training ship. Due to the poor condition of the engines and the lack of spare parts, the submarine was removed from the service lists in 1944. She sank while being towed to the cutting site.

A small model of a small submarine, but perfectly detailed and also perfectly designed, intended for modelers of any experience. Even for beginners and modelers with little experience, it should not cause much problems, but it is recommended to work under the supervision of a more experienced colleague - it is more fun and better to work in a company. All exterior detailing is perfectly designed in the model. There are colors reserve in this model, although small. You can glue both the German and British versions of the ship - they differ only in flags. The textual instructions in Polish are small, but detailed and will definitely help You in the assembly process. The graphical instructions are also small, but definitely sufficient for good assembly of the model, informative and easy to read.
