The ship was found in the vicinity of Gokstad or Gjekstad near Sandefjord, in the Vestfold region of Norway, where it was buried in "Kongshaugen" - the "Burial of the Kings" around 900 AD. Found in 1880. Although the barrow was looted, a number of objects and valuables were found in it. Olaf Geirstadalv, one of the leaders of the Yngling clan, was most likely buried in the barrow. The ship belongs to the "cow" type, was built around 850 and was buried in the barrow in 890. Despite the fact, that the hull of the ship was covered with clay before being buried, it was very well preserved, and only the upper sideboards were damaged. Numerous indications were found, that the vessel had been heavily used, before entering the barrow.

A not very complex, but well-detailed model of a sailing ship, which, under the supervision of a more experienced colleague, will be easily glued by both beginners and advanced modelers with little experience. True, the open body and its full set and cladding from individual "boards" will force you to use all the reserves of patience, diligence and attention. In the 2nd edition, some colors, textures and some details, that caused problems in the model of the previous edition, have been slightly adjusted (but the corrections are very minor), there is also a new sheet with more historically correct shields and details of rowers' benches. Excellent graphics and quite a lot of text instructions (in Polish and English), there is a considerable reserve of textures.
