Liechtenstein Castle (Germany)

Liechtenstein Castle (German: Schloss Lichtenstein) is a castle in the municipality of Liechtenstein in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The castle is located at an altitude of 817 m above sea level. To the southeast of the castle are the ruins of a medieval fortress (Old Liechtenstein, built in 1150–1200). The current castle was built in 1842, based on the attitude of the time to a medieval castle. The castle was built by Duke Friedrich Wilhelm von Urach, Count of Württemberg, inspired by W. Hauf's novel "Liechtenstein". Currently, the castle still belongs to the Dukes of Urach, but it is open to tourists. The castle exhibits a large collection of ancient weapons and armor.
