MRAP 6x6 "Cougar" HEV – the US light armored transporter

“Cougar” MRAP is a modern light, wheeled, armored personnel carrier, manufactured in the USA. The first prototypes of this combat vehicle were manufactured in 2002 and serial production began soon after, which continues to this day. In the four-wheel version (“Cougar” 4x4), the transporter is 5.9 m long, 2.75 m wide and 2.65 m high, in the 6-wheel version (“Cougar” 6x6) the length is -7.08 meters, height - 2.74 m and width - 2.64 m. Both versions are equipped with one 330 h. p. “Caterpillar” C7 engine. The maximum speed of the 4-wheel version is 110 km/h, the 6-wheel version is slightly slower - 105 km/h. The “Couga”r MRAP was developed for the needs of the US Armed Forces, primarily for their units, participating in operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. From the beginning, the “Cougar” was designed as an MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected) type of combat vehicle, i.e. it will have a specially V-shaped hull bottom to significantly increase the survivability of the vehicle in the event of a mine or fougasse explosion. These assumptions have largely been met, and now the prevailing opinion is that the “Cougar” can withstand the explosion of an explosive device weighing 14 kg (explosives - TNT). It is worth noting, that many specialized versions of this combat vehicle have been created, including: the “Badger” ILAV (a version produced by “FPII” and “BAE Systems” for the Iraqi Army), the “Cougar” JERRV or the “Cougar” ISS (an enhanced off-road combat vehicle with a completely redesigned suspension construction). The main manufacturer of the “Cougar” MRAP is “Force Protection Industries”.

A medium-size, complex, well-designed and richly detailed model. The full version (with a driver's cab, full detailing of the engine, transmission, chassis and its suspension, fighting compartment and external components and parts) is recommended only for intermediate and experienced modelers. The model is so detailed, that, when finished, it will seem, that You are holding a real armored personnel carrier in Your hands, only 25 times smaller. There is a full sheet with a color stock.
