The Italian tankettes (small tanks) C.V.33 designed based on the experience, gained in the production and operation of the C.V.29 tankettes, which were licensed copies of the British “Carden-Loyd Mark VI’ tank. Prototypes with different suspension and armament construction were produced in 1932 and 1933. In 1933, when the project was approved by the army, serial production began. Production was entrusted to the company "FIAT - Ansaldo", and the tankettes received the designation Carro Veloce C.V. 35. The main difference from the predecessor C.V.33 was the hull construction. The C.V.33 hull was welded, while the C.V.35 - riveted and bolted. A dozen minor changes were also made, that improved the tactical and technical characteristics of the machine. A total of 2,724 tankettes of both types were produced by May 1939. Even 1,216 of them were exported. In 1937 a version of the C.V.35 with a completely modified chassis was introduced. The machine was called the C.V.35 "Modificato" or C.V.38. Instead of 6 small-diameter support wheels, a chassis with 4 larger-diameter wheels was used, their shock absorption was changed to torsional flat springs. New tracks with a longer track length were also installed. These changes significantly improved the tankette's running characteristics on rough terrain. Here, the speed increased from 12–15 km/h to 20 km/h. Due to the delay in testing, associated with the preparation for the production of new tanks "FIAT L6/40", this version of the tankette was not mass-produced. But it was decided to remake 200 C.V.35s to the C.V38 standard, but only about 100 units were able to be converted.

The model is perfectly designed and maximally detailed, but not very complicated. The interior and engine compartment equipment is not detailed, but the chassis, its suspension and exterior detailing are excellent. You can make caterpillars from strips or separate tracks. The greatest complexity is the many small details, that need to be glued together accurately and carefully. The chassis is also quite complicated. However, a beginner with some experience, working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague, taking his time and using all the reserves of patience, diligence, and attentiveness, will perfectly glue together this peculiarly interesting model. There is a considerable reserve of colors. The text instructions are small, but quite detailed, the graphic ones are simply excellent.
