PT-91 "Twardy" – the Polish main battle tank, the first prototypes of which were manufactured in 1991, serial production was carried out in two batches: in 1994-2002 (for the Polish Army) and in 2007 - 2009 (for Malaysia). The “Bumar – Łabędy” Mechanical Plant was responsible for production. It is estimated, that the total mass production of the PT-91 is about 350 units. The tank is armed with a 125 mm 2A46 gun and two machine guns: 7.62 mm PKT and 12.7 mm NSW. The PT-91 "Twardy" was created as a deep modernization of the T-72M1 tank, and the impetus for this work was the successful modernization of the T-55 tanks to the T-55AM level. The “OBRUM” plants in Gliwice and “Bumar – Łabędy” were jointly responsible for the research and implementation of the project. The scope of the modernization work was very extensive. The main modernization included replacing the engine with a completely new, more powerful one, called the S-12U, with a power of 850 h. p. New dynamo-reactive armor, developed at the Military Institute of Armament Technology, called "ERAWA", was also installed, the bottom of the hull was reinforced to minimize losses from the explosion of anti-tank mines. It is also equipped with a completely new “DRAWA” fire control system (FCS) and completely new observation devices. Due to the modernization, the PT-91 has undoubtedly become a much more dangerous combat vehicle, than the standard T-72 version of the tank, but it is still clearly inferior to third-generation tanks, such as the “Leopard II” or M1 “Abrams”. The only foreign user of PT-91 vehicles is Malaysia, which has purchased about 50 tanks of this type in the PT-91M version.
A fairly large tank, a large model, well-designed and excellently detailed, suitable only for medium-experienced and experienced modelers. The model details almost all external details: chassis, its suspension, tracks (only tape), turret, armament, exterior detailing. The interior of the turret, fighting and engine compartments are not detailed. But even so, there is a lot of detail in this model. There are no color stocks in this model. The textual instructions in Polish are large, detailed and will serve You well in the process of assembling the model. The graphical instructions are also large, informative, but difficult to read due to the small drawings - You will definitely need a magnifying glass to read them, and they are also quite densely and crammed together. But the final result, as far, as I have seen this model assembled in competitions, is truly impressive.
