In 1942 the Great Britain transferred several divisions, armed with "Spitfire" Mk. Vc fighters, to Australia. Soon after, they were reinforced with 410 units of Mk. VIII. Due to such a large number of available fighters, several new divisions were formed to participate in the defense of Australian airspace.
