The BMW R 16 is a two-cylinder (boxer) motorcycle, manufactured by BMW from 1929 to 1934. Five series were produced: Series 1: 1929-1930 (price RM 2,200), Series 2: 1930-1932 (price RM 1,880), Series 3: 1931-1932 (price RM 2,040), Series 4: 1933-1934 (price RM 2,040), Series 5: 1934 (price RM 2,040). This is a sports version of the R11 model. Both were the first BMW motorcycles to be equipped with lighting lamps and a speedometer as standard. BMW has achieved its greatest sporting success with this type of motorcycle to date. The 15th International Six-Day Race in Wales was won by the team of Sepp Stelzer, Ernst Henne, Josef Mauermayer and Ludwig Kraus, riding motorcycles with a sidecar. The engine is a two-cylinder, overhead valve boxer with 25(33) hp, mounted longitudinally, powered by 1 BMW carburetor with a diameter of 26 mm (2 AMAL 6/011 carburetors from 1932). Dry single-plate clutch (double-plate from 1930), connected to a 3-speed manual gearbox. The driven rear wheels are connected to the engine by a cardan drive. The frame is made of stamped steel profiles with a rigid rear wheel suspension. Drum brakes with a diameter of 200 mm are installed at the front, at the rear - a rim brake acting on the drive shaft. Maximum speed 120 km/h (126 km/h from the 3rd series - 1932).

Not too complicated, well-designed and moderately detailed model for modelers of any experience. Only for modelers with little experience and beginners we recommend working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. Parts that were originally chromed, printed with glossy "Metallic" type paint. Graphic instructions are small, but quite detailed, textual - a little larger, detailed, in German and English. There is 1 cardboard sheet (1 mm thick) for gluing parts.
