The two-axle, three-drum road roller DU-48 is a further improvement of the D-211V roller. The transmission of the DU-48A roller uses a hydromechanical gearbox; the differential is in a separate housing. Two narrower rear driving rollers and a wider driven roller are installed. Widely spaced driving rollers ensure good lateral stability. In addition, they are large in diameter and protrude beyond the dimensions of the roller body, so it easily overcomes rolling resistance and can level asphalt close to walls, high curbs and other obstacles. The rollers of these road rollers are arranged so, that the rear rollers overlap the front roller by 100-120 mm. Machine weight: 10/13 tons (with ballast). Width of the compacted section: 1.85 m. Engine: D-37E diesel, 50 h. p. The first DU-48 model, manufactured at the Rybinsk Road Machinery Plant, passed factory tests in 1971. Since 1974, serial production of the modernized DU-48A roller, later DU-48B, began, which was produced until 1992. By the way, these road rollers were used in the Lituanian SSR and in Lituania, which has already regained its independence - we painted the names of Lituanian companies on the body (it is best, if they are supported by archival photos) and our collection of "Lituanian" equipment has been replenished with another interesting exhibit.
A small, but well-detailed, model of a small road roller. Detailed engine compartment, control cabin, all external details. And at the same time, the model is so simple, that the author and publisher decided, that it does not even need textual instructions. What else is missing here - is a supply of colors. But there is an excellent graphical instruction, where necessary, the details are printed with double-sided printing or silver "Metallic" type paint. Without much difficulty and no problems, even beginners and inexperienced modelers will glue this interesting model together. Most of them will not even need the help of more experienced colleagues. An ideal model for the first steps into the world of paper modeling, full of wonders.
