Ancient Roman quinquereme

The quinquereme was one of the largest and most powerful ships of the Roman navy. The term "quinquereme" describes the nature of its most obvious propulsion system: rowing. A quinquereme is made up of five rowers, who form a rowing unit. This allowed these warships to maneuver in relatively tight spaces and accelerate quickly over short distances.
