As early as 1915, the British Admiralty proposed to design a high-speed warship with a displacement of 36,500 tons, which was enormous for those times, and which had to be minimally submerged and maximally fast. After the Battle of Jutland in 1916, in which three British line cruisers were sunk by the detonation of their ammunition, the design of the new ship was reworked. HMS "Hood" was to become the first of a series of four new cruisers with improved armor. However, only one ship from the entire series was completed. All its characteristics made it possible to talk about "Hood", as the first modern high-speed liner. But, despite all its positive qualities, the ship sank on May 24, 1941 in a battle with the German battleship "Bismarck".
A well-detailed and designed model with excellent textual and graphical instructions for intermediate to advanced modellers. Colors are in stock. Antiquarian publication.
