The St. Mary's Assumption Cathedral Basilica in Plock is the oldest architectural monument in this city and has been titled a basilica church since 1910, and this title was granted by Pope Pius X. The roots of today's basilica date back to 1130, when Bishop Alexander of Malone ordered the demolition of the previous church and began building a completely new Romanesque temple with three naves and a transept, and the presbytery, ended in an apse. The cathedral was consecrated in 1144. Unfortunately, in the XIIIth century it was destroyed by the Prussians, and later by the Lithuanians, and it had to be rebuilt - this time in the Gothic style, which is still visible on the facade and towers of the temple today. In the XVIth century, the temple was almost completely destroyed by fire, after which it was rebuilt in 1531-1534, but already in the spirit of the Renaissance, as evidenced by the dome above the transept. In the XVIIIth century the church was reconstructed again, becoming narrower, than two centuries ago, in the Classicist style.
A large, medium-complexity, fairly strict forms, well-designed and richly detailed model, suitable only for medium-experienced and experienced modelers. The reserves of colors and textures are quite large. The textual instruction in Polish and English is large, detailed, informative and perfectly complement the graphical instruction, which are also of considerable size, easy to read, quite detailed and informative.
