The pilot boat project, marked KP-400, was an innovative pilot boat for its time, adapted for year-round navigation in port and coastal waters in the medium climatic zone. The ship was designed at the "Navicentrum" Design Office in Wroclaw, the engineering team was headed by engineer Stanislaw Gzik. Cutters KP-400 - single-screw, continuous deck ships with superstructures, made of aluminum sheet. The ships' hulls are made of steel, divided into 5 sealed compartments by 4 watertight partitions. The ship is quite fast, maneuverable and has good sea characteristics, while at the same time it has excellent stability characteristics. The cutters are equipped with two replaceable propellers - one of them is bronze for normal sailing conditions, the other is steel for sailing in winter (ice) conditions. The ship is powered by 420 h.p. power diesel engine "Wola" 31 H12A. With 50% reserves and a full crew in calm and deep water, in a wind of 2 points, the boat develops a speed of 11.5 knots. The fuel reserves are sufficient for the full operation of the engine and other equipment for 48 hours (500 nautical miles).
A small, beautiful and well-detailed model of medium complexity, which, under the supervision of a more experienced colleague, will stick together perfectly even for an advanced beginner or a modeler with little experience. Only haste and carelessness will have no place here. Antiquarian publication.
