Holk was already known in the Xth century. But the most dynamic stage in the development of this type of ship began at the end of the XIVth century, with the beginning of the Hanseatic League's commercial expansion and the creation of favorable conditions for the construction of merchant ships. In the XVth century, the holks completely displaced the kogas, that had reigned in the seas until then. The holk was a single-mast ship with a flat hull plating. The castles at the front and rear, as in the kogas, served for navigation and defense, but were already fully connected to the hull. A characteristic feature of these ships was the deck boards, placed across the ship. Later, the holks were driven out by the caraccas.
Perfectly designed and richly detailed sailing ship model, which is perfect for even an advanced beginner and a little experienced modeler. Only they should work under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. Some details, sail and flags are printed on both sides and on thin paper (sail and flags). Separate sheets. Antiquarian publication.
