USS "Sims" (DD-409) – the US destroyer of the interwar and World War II period. The keel was laid in 1937, launched in April 1939. The length of the destroyer - 106.17 meters; width - 10.97 meters. Displacement - about 2200 tons, maximum speed - about 35 knots. At the beginning of the service the armament consisted of five 127 mm guns, eight 533 mm torpedo tubes and depth charge launchers. USS “Sims” (DD-409) was the first ship of this class. They were designed and built on the basis of a supplemented and partially modified “Benham”-class destroyer project. Compared to their predecessors, they were slightly larger, slightly slower, but had more powerful artillery and torpedo armament. USS “Sims”, at the time of the United States' entry into World War II, was assigned to the 17th Task Force, which was created around the aircraft carrier USS “Yorktown”. At the turn of 1941 and 1942 USS “Sims” sailed from the US west coast to Samoa, escorting one of the American convoys. In 1942 in February, as part of the 17th Task Force, it was supposed to attack Wake Island, but at the last minute the order was changed. USS "Sims» sunk on May 7, 1942 during the Battle in the Coral Sea.

A medium-size, but well-designed and richly detailed model of a medium-size ship, which will suit only intermediate and experienced modelers. But the model is not so complicated, that it cannot be assembled by an advanced beginner and a modeler with little experience, working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. Just do not rush and do everything carefully and accurately, some nodes can be simplified a little, without compromising the overall appearance of the model. The model has excellent detailization of the hull, deck equipment, superstructures, armament, life-saving and other equipment. Beautiful and unusual spotted camouflage will distinguish Your model from the traditional gray of military ships or typical camouflages. There are no stock of colors. The textual instructions in Polish are quite large, informative and will really help You a lot in the process of gluing the model, as well, as the excellent, quite large, informative and easy-to-read graphical instructions. Antiquarian publication.
